Green Hill Contracting was founded with a clear vision: to provide exceptional remodeling services to clients who needed the high-quality work and communication associated with large projects but at a more accessible scale.

The company was established through the collaboration of experienced professionals Chelsea Combs and Ken Combs, combining their expertise in remodeling, project management, and client service. Chelsea, with a background in executive recruitment, brought her ability to identify top talent and ensure excellent communication throughout the renovation process.

Ken, with his years of experience in the home construction and remodeling industry, offered invaluable knowledge and operational expertise. Together, they created Green Hill Contracting to serve Durham, NC, and surrounding areas, ensuring a high standard of work and client satisfaction.

CHELSEA COMBS

Founder - Green Hill Contracting

Chelsea Combs is a proud 4th generation Bull City native and the founder of Green Hill Contracting. She went on to graduate from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Later she partnered with Ken Combs, owner of CQC Home, to create Green Hill and serve clients who wanted the CQC experience of client communication and quality, but the project size fell outside CQC’s scope of business. Chelsea’s executive recruitment background and MBA from NC State have created the foundation for her to identify top talent for renovation project success and provide excellent client communication throughout the renovation process. Chelsea is a proud board member of Granite Charter Academy, a new charter school in The Triangle area dedicated to providing students with vocational and trade-focused opportunities that help shape the future of skilled trades in North Carolina. Chelsea’s investment in the community and passion for women in construction have led her to be involved with Granite Charter Academy and start Green Hill Contracting!

In Chelsea’s free time, you can find her golfing, playing pickleball, or spending time with her horses and mini donkeys out in Stem, NC.

Chelsea Combs, a proud fourth-generation Bull City native, co-founded Green Hill Contracting with a vision to make exceptional remodeling services more accessible. In addition to her work with Green Hill, she is actively pursuing an MBA at NC State University and enjoys time with her horses and mini donkeys in Stem, NC.

Ken Combs, co-founder and owner, partnered with Chelsea to expand the reach of their business, offering clients the same top-notch service and communication at a more approachable level for smaller-scale projects.

Taylor is a passionate marketing professional who thrives on bringing brands to life through creativity, strategy, and authentic storytelling. With over 12 years of experience spanning both agency and in-house roles, she’s developed a knack for crafting campaigns that truly connect with audiences and drive meaningful growth. Taylor loves digging into the details, finding innovative ways to solve problems, and building strong relationships along the way. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family, exploring crafting projects, and finding inspiration in unexpected places.

Isaiah has over 20 years of experience throughout the construction industry, he is passionate about building and improving the most ubiquitous aspect of anyone’s life: their home.

He began his career in the trades as a slate roofer in his home state of NW PA and has worn many hats; as a carpenter, framer, mechanic, commercial roofing superintendent, water treatment & plumbing technician, among other roles before starting a handyman business here in the Triangle in 2019. This handyman business evolved into an established remodeling business servicing hundreds of clients before attaining my NASCLA General Contracting license in late 2023.

While he greatly enjoyed his time running his business, he is thrilled to be a part of the Green Hill General Contracting team. As Project Manager he maintains consistent communication (usually daily) with clients before, during and after each project so that they understand the schedule and every aspect of the project.

He is a proud US Army veteran and father to an amazing 10 year old daughter. He spends most of my free time with his wife and daughter, and also with his parents and younger brother who moved here to the Triangle to be closer to them. He is a rock climber and an avid reader of history, philosophy, science and science fiction books.

He looks forward to helping on your next home improvement project, complete with the Green Hill standard of quality and professionalism!

RYAN ZWECK

Project Manager

GRACEN MALPASS

Interior Designer

Ryan has had a love for building and creating things from a young age, a passion that naturally led him into the construction industry. He was formally introduced to residential construction in 2018 through an Assistant Project Manager role with a custom home builder. Since then, he has gained hands-on experience across many areas of the field, including carpentry, kitchen and bath remodeling, tile work, cabinet installation, deck building, and full project management. This well-rounded background allows him to understand projects from both a technical and practical perspective.

Ryan is passionate about creating beautiful, high-quality spaces that homeowners can enjoy for years to come. He especially enjoys the transformation process—turning spaces that are dysfunctional or aesthetically lacking into environments that are both functional and visually appealing. Client interaction is a cornerstone of his approach, and he strongly believes that a successful project is built on trust, clear communication, and prioritizing the client’s needs throughout every phase of construction.

He is proud to be part of Green Hill Contracting, a company whose values align closely with his own. Ryan is committed to continuous growth, continuous improvement, and delivering a positive, professional experience for every client.

Outside of work, Ryan enjoys building personal projects, hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, shooting, creating wood-burning art, and spending time around an evening bonfire with his wife of 11 years.

Gracen is an interior designer at Green Hill Contracting who loves bringing style and personality into every space she touches. A graduate of Appalachian State University’s interior design program, she recently made her way back to Raleigh to continue doing what she loves most—creating beautiful, livable spaces with thoughtful details that reflect her clients’ unique stories. When she’s not designing, you’ll find her restaurant-hopping around Raleigh, attending NC State Football Games, or relaxing at the beach.
